Log Cabin Installation
One of the more popular log cabins available is the Barbados Mini from Lasita Maja. It features high-quality double glazed windows and doors, ensuring excellent insulation and energy efficiency. With a low maximum height of just 2.5 metres, it meets planning permission requirements in most areas, making it easier to install without the need for complicated approvals. The compact footprint, measuring 3.3 metres by 2.4 metres, makes this particular model an ideal choice for smaller gardens or spaces where available room is limited. This versatile cabin is perfect for use as a summerhouse, a dedicated garden office, or even a convenient home gym right in your garden.

Approximately 2 jumbo bags of ballast and 10 bags of cement are needed if mixing by hand to create a 100mm thick concrete base for a log cabin this size. 100mm x 45mm pressure treated timber is used for the timber frame to take the concrete.

Quite a bit of space needs to be cleared to take all the pieces of the cabin as the transfer of cabin to the site takes place.

Timber pieces are sorted into the various sized components ready for assembly.

Foundation timbers are screwed together using the recommended screws in the log cabin kit.
The walls are started front and back with half log pieces then the walls can start to build from there using a mallet and the knocking block provided in the kit.

Once the walls are 3 or 4 logs high it is then time to consider fitting the windows and door frame. The door frame must first be assembled using the screws provided in the log cabin kit.

This specific example was successfully installed within a single day. It is certainly possible to complete the build in just one day; however, for most people, especially those without training and specialist tools, it is more realistic to expect the process to take around two full days.
